Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT® 200)
Catalina is a registered Yoga Alliance® member and achieved her Master of Physical Therapy from the University of British Columbia.
Catalina came to her first yoga class in 2010 seeking a physical practice that complemented her treatment plan to heal a lower back injury. Upon making a full recovery in 2012, she deepened her exploration of Hatha yoga and through dedicated practice, became inspired to study yoga’s vast tradition and share it with her community.
As a teacher, Catalina’s aim is to facilitate a space for clients to build a mindful yoga practice. Ultimately, her classes are designed to optimize her clients’ engagement with the activities that they value most. She integrates her knowledge of anatomy, functional mobility, injury rehabilitation and prevention to provide classes that are personalized, align with client goals, and welcome all abilities, fitness levels, genders and ages. With an emphasis on precise alignment-based cueing, Catalina blends creative sequences with body awareness to build mobility, stability, support recovery, and optimize function.
Prior to working at Seva, Catalina had the privilege of leading adapted yoga and meditation classes for individuals with a variety of neurological and musculoskeletal conditions. Additionally, she led vinyasa, hatha, yin, restorative, stand up paddle board yoga and Zumba® Fitness classes in Victoria, BC. Catalina is also a fluent Spanish speaker from Bogota, Colombia.
As a lifelong dancer, Catalina enjoys spending time in the studio when she’s not in the clinic or practicing yoga.
