Seva Physiotherapy and Massage offers private and customized yoga classes that are set at your own pace. Whether you seek a practice that supports your physiotherapy and massage treatment goals, or you seek to enhance your practice with individualized attention, each class is tailored to fit your specific needs. In collaboration with Seva practitioners, classes are developed and led by a UBC Master of Physical Therapy graduate and certified yoga instructor. If you are undergoing physiotherapy or massage treatment, your clinician and yoga instructor will liaise to ensure that key treatment areas are addressed and postures are accommodated to support recovery from injury.
Now offering private 1:1 and group classes in-person or virtually. As per Public Health Guidelines for Group Low Intensity Exercise, occupancy will be limited to 5 participants for in-person group classes and 9 participants for virtual classes.
Yoga Rehabilitation is suitable for all abilities, fitness levels and is welcoming to all bodies, genders, and ages. Even if you have never stepped foot on a yoga mat, everyone is encouraged to participate at any stage of their life. Knowing that it can be daunting to take the first step, time and patience will be a priority to those needing it. In alignment with your goals, novice participants will be introduced to the fundamentals of asana (posture), pranayama (breathing technique), and/or meditation. Experienced participants will have an opportunity to build on their existing yoga practice with the option of exploring more complex sequences. All you need is loose clothing that you feel comfortable moving in. While you may borrow a mat in our clinic, you are welcome to bring your own mat to in-person classes.

- Explore both elements of active (yang) and passive (yin) yoga practice. In the first half of class, flow through sun salutations and standing postures to gradually build heat in your body. Rehabilitative group classes
Once participants feel confident with their personalized yoga program, they are welcome to expand on their existing practice in a group setting. For your safety and comfort, a minimum of 3 private 1:1 sessions are required for participants rehabilitating from injuries before scheduling a group session. We recommend at least 1, 30 minute 1:1 session for participants who are not injured but would still benefit from expanding their practice in a group class.
